I was reading the local paper recently and came across this article. It talks about a series of proposed marine parks, reserves and conservation areas. This new proposal looks to me like it will, like many previous regulations, do little to curb overfishing by commercial entities, while putting yet more severe limits on recreational fishing. This proposal, like all previous regulations, limits spearfishing, the type of fishing I occasionally do. Spearfishing is the least-invasive, least-destructive and most controllable type of fishing there is.
I'm not too thrilled about it, but given past experience, I expect no better from California's game regulatory agencies.
